Different forms and types of chargers for each device and brand are often a hassle. However, there is the potential for all future chargers to be uniform.
The European Commission, Thursday 23 September 2021, will submit a proposal to the legislature to standardize the power supply or charger for mobile phones, computers, tablets and headphones on the territory of the European Union. This was conveyed by a Reuters source.
Plans to standardize device chargers are thought to have more impact on Apple, the iPhone maker, than its competitors.
For more than a decade, the European Union's executive and legislative bodies have encouraged the use of uniform chargers because they are considered better for the environment and more convenient for users.

The European Commission wants the sale of chargers to be separated from the sale of devices. They also propose an aligned charging port.
Apple says rules that force the use of one type of charger can hinder innovation, create piles of electronic waste, and annoy consumers.
iPhone is charged using the Lightning connector cable. Meanwhile, its Android-based competitor uses a USB-C connector.
About 50 percent of chargers sold with devices in 2018 had a USB micro-B connector type, 29 percent had a USB-C connector, and 21 percent had a Lightning connector. The data was obtained from a European Commission study in 2019.***
